Color & Light

Name your faces, not your colours

Call it --face-top, not --light-blue, and palettes get easy.

Testing on real devices matters for 3D transforms. Emulators get the layout right but not always the rendering, and older phones sometimes draw faces in the wrong order or with visible seams. We keep a drawer of old handsets for exactly this reason, and every tutorial gets a quick check on each of them.

Your toolkit

  • Triangle-grid paper and a soft pencil
  • A browser with a Layers panel
  • A snippets file of finished scenes

Tiny typo in the second code block: the unit is missing on the translate value.

This is the clearest explanation of draw order I have read.

Glad it helped. The values are in the colour ratios reference.
